Aftergraduating from the Academy of Art University in SanFrancisco, and earning a B.F.A in Fashion Design witha concentration in Surface and Textile Design, herelocated to New York City and began working forcompanies such as Tory Burch, Rinat Brodach, andArtistic Linen. After several years of designing for other brands,Darrin noticed a lack of representation within them.He wanted to see more people like himself workingwith and representing these companies. Darrindecided to explore other avenues in the industry andfurther his knowledge by working in casting. GilleonSmith Mercado recruited Darrin as an intern for NewYork Fashion Week in 2014, and shortly after pickedhim as her Assistant Casting Specialist for GilleonSmith and Extra Mile (GSEM Group). Darrin supportedcasting for television and film projects includingUnbreakable Kimmy Schmidt , Law and Order: SVU,and Orange is the New Black. GSEM Group was thenpurchased by GMLV, LLC, a full service agency, in2019, which catapulted Darrin into the position ofDirector of Operations / Casting Director for the talentdivision. Since then, Darrin has gone on to cast majorcommercial, editorial, and print campaigns forinimitable brands such as Oribe Hair Care, Dark &Lovely, and Target; to name a few, as well as NewYork Fashion Week runway for Chromat. Darrins continued vision in the world of casting is tomake it a priority that every casting call, every callback, and every campaign reflect the world that welive in; a melting pot of diversity, inclusivity, andbeauty.'
